CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Trey Wingo, host of ESPN’s NFL Live and anchor of SportsCenter, will be the featured speaker at the next meeting of Hood Hargett Breakfast Club, Charlotte’s premier networking organization. The event, sponsored by the Carolina Panthers, will be held at Carmel Country Club Friday, Jan. 15, at 7:30 a.m.

In addition to SportsCenter, Wingo is heavily involved with ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage, and he is the host of the network’s NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. He is also a regular contributor on ESPN Radio.

More than 40 local and regional businesses are members of Hood Hargett Breakfast Club. The monthly breakfast events provide an opportunity for members to network with each other and entertain clients and prospective clients. Also, at each breakfast event, a local student athlete is awarded a $1,000 scholarship as part of the Liz Murray Scholarship Fund. Hood Hargett Breakfast Club has awarded more than $180,000 to more than 150 local high school students.

About Trey Wingo: Wingo joined ESPN in 1997 as an ESPNEWS anchor. He has served as the primary anchor of the 6 p.m. edition of SportsCenter, and he has also been the host of Baseball Tonight and ESPN2’s NFL 2Night and NBA 2Night shows. He joined ESPN from KSDK-TV in St. Louis. A native of Greenwich, Conn., Wingo graduated from Baylor University in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He won six Mid-America regional Emmy awards for reporting, including three straight years for outstanding sports reporting.
