For the second consecutive year, Business Leader Media is unveiling its rankings of the Top 100 North Carolina Small Businesses. Companies are eligible for this recognition if (1) they have fewer than 100 employees, and (2) the majority of their business is conducted within North Carolina.

Each nominated company has been blindly evaluated based on statistical data (1-year and 5-year revenue growth), business achievements (industry awards and years in business), as well as community involvement. The above information has been entered into an algorithm that assigns each company an individual score. The scores are then used to rank each company from 1 to 100, and those results are now presented within the following pages.

This year, in conjunction with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, the companies that make up the 2009 list were honored at three simultaneous dinner events in Charlotte, the Triad, and the Triangle.
