07/20/09 - Colodny Fass' Executive Speaks at Spring Conference
|
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - Fred Karlinsky, a shareholder with the Fort Lauderdale-based law firm of Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky & Abate, spoke at the recent Intermediaries & Reinsurance Underwriters Association Spring Conference, “Florida Update: High Noon on the Sunshine State" in Southampton, Bermuda.
Mr. Karlinsky presented an overview of the Florida insurance market, including the new homeowners market, State Farm’s exit, the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund, the Citizen’s task force, and pending Florida legislation. He also discussed the state’s political scene and population growth.
The Intermediaries & Reinsurance Underwriters Association (IRU) is a nonprofit corporation dealing with reinsurance education and research. The IRU holds annual spring and fall conferences, in addition to claims and/or underwriting educational seminars throughout the year.
Mr. Karlinsky focuses his practice on insurance regulatory matters, insurance legislative matters, insurance transactional matters and governmental affairs. He also serves as Florida counsel to the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America and general counsel and chief lobbyist for the Florida Property and Casualty Association, an association comprised of a number of the Florida domestic property and automobile insurance companies.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami and his Juris Doctorate from Florida State University College of Law.
