HUNTSVILLE, AL - ADTRAN(R), Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, announced that Arapahoe Telephone Company, an independent, family-owned carrier serving southern Nebraska, has selected the Total Access(R) 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) and Total Access 1124P Outside Plant (OSP) Broadband Multimedia Gateway (BMG) for its Fiber-to-the-Node (FTTN) deployment. This solution will provide Arapahoe with a vastly improved access network capable of supporting the broadband needs of tomorrow.

The ADTRAN Total Access 5000 is a carrier class multi-service access and aggregation platform that bridges the gap between existing and next-generation networks. With an all-Ethernet core, the Total Access 5000 supports both legacy and emerging service interfaces over copper and fiber, easily scaling to support bandwidth-intensive applications. This scalable Ethernet architecture allows carriers to use the Total Access 5000 to address both legacy and next-generation services economically while providing a seamless path toward a converged network.

The Total Access 1124P combines the technology and cost-savings benefits of an OSP BMG, which allows service providers to deliver baseband POTS and broadband multimedia to any customer over a single phone line, with a POTS to Voice over IP (VoIP) gateway to expand service delivery in the access network. With 24 ADSL2+ ports and 24 POTS ports, the Total Access 1124P is the perfect size for rural FTTN applications. Environmentally sealed and hardened, the Total Access 1124P operates with ADTRAN's Total Access 5000 MSAP family to provide a complete broadband access solution.
