Growing up, Melissa Essary was a writer, intrigued by the world of words and ideas. But her plans to become a journalist after graduating from the Univerisity of Texas at Austin took unexpected detour and she hasn't looked back. "I took a course in media law during my junior year", she recalls, "and fell in love with the law." After attending Baylor Law School, Essary was a trial Attorney for five years and then served on the faculty at Baylor Law for sixteen years. In 2006 she became the dean of Campbell Univeristy's Norman Adrain Wiggins School of Law. In each position, her plate has been full of challenges and opportunities - and she's realished every one. Now, as the leader of Campbell's have prepared her to guide the school to new heights. "I have the extraordinay opportunity to lead our great law school as it moves to the capital city," she says. "I am blessed to be part of a dynamic team that will help prepare future generations of North Carolina leaders from our new home in the intellectual heartbeat of the state."
