CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Local human capital management consulting firm DRAKE & Associates, Ltd begins its 14th semester of the popular Certificate in Leadership (CIL) program on September 25, 2008. Participants from both public and private organizations have demonstrated a commitment to leadership excellence by participating in this six day program that extends over a three-month period.

Jill Odom, vice president of asset management and compliance monitoring at Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation, is a spring 2007 CIL graduate. She believes that people from all types of businesses can benefit from the program.

The program operates on the idea that business leaders today must inspire and excite their people through stimulating work to accomplish group or organizational goals.

The program explores how leadership is a function of the traits and abilities of the leader, the situations faced, and the behavior and reactions of the people being led. Instructors show students how to maximize effective communication, the arts of motivation and coaching, and leading through change to develop strong team structures and committed staff.

This distinctive approach to leadership development is working. Past participants tell Drake that the CIL program has positioned them for success by exposing them to new ideas and new ways of thinking about old ideas.

Richard Smith-Overman, fall 2004 CIL graduate and North Carolina Housing Finance Agency employee, believes the program has helped him succeed in all areas of his life.

Participants have received community recognition for their achievements, winning accolades and promotions for their model leadership.

Drake says seeing the participants succeed is one of the firm’s greatest rewards.

The Drake team continues its CIL program with the fall semester starting September 25, 2008. For more information about the CIL program or DRAKE & Associates, Ltd., visit www.drakehr.com or contact Mary Lou Drake at 919-969-9901.
